Edward and Bella may become proud parents in the soon-to-be filmed Twilight: Breaking Dawn, but it’s Nikki Reed who may be the most excited about the introduction of baby Renesmee.

“Selfishly, I’m really pleased with my relationship with this kid,” the actress, 22, tells PEOPLE while attending a Cirque du Tacori event in Santa Monica, “but I really like the way it affects my relationship with Jacob.”

Reed’s character, Rosalie Hale, has always had a sizable chip on her shoulder when it comes to Taylor Lautner’s shape-shifter, but after reading through the new scripts, Reed is looking forward to exploring her vampire’s softer side.

“In the first part of the books Jacob and I hate each other,” she says, “but we bond over this baby and we develop this connection that is really powerful.”

It’s a connection that Reed says is reminiscent of her off-screen friendship with costar Lautner, 18.

“It feels similar but at the same time more volatile than the relationship that I have in real life with Taylor,” she says. “We’re obviously buddies, but there’s a playfulness that we get to explore that wasn’t there before.”

Did director David Slade bring a new perspective to Rosalie?

”He’s a lot darker, and the amount of thought he put into all of our characters was very eye-opening. What happened to Rosalie is pretty intense. She carries around a lot of resentment, sadness, and anger that is absolutely justifiable and she’s actually really reasonable. She finally realizes that Bella’s sticking around and she decides to give her a bit of herself.”

With “Eclipse” more than a month from hitting theaters, Twilighters have been clamoring for clues about what to expect from the third installment in the vampire saga. While those details may be scarce, a new “bookazine” from the editors of Us Weekly promises some behind-the-scenes scoop guaranteed to please Twi-Hards.

In “The Sexy Stars of Twilight: Eclipse,” on newsstands May 28, some of the “Eclipse” castmembers opened up about what it was like on the movie’s set. The special issue also includes tons of pictures and posters, as well as factoids about the cast and the production.

For instance, cast newcomer Bryce Dallas Howard, who takes over as vampire Victoria, admitted she was initially concerned about joining the already close-knit cast, but found them incredibly welcoming.

“It was something I deeply considered and discussed with many people, because it is a very big deal,” Howard says in the book. To her relief, she discovered “Rob [Pattinson] and Taylor [Lautner] are such great guys. I love those boys! And Kristen [Stewart] was like, ‘Where’s your baby? I want to meet him.’ ”

But rather than KStew, it seems Nikki Reed turned out to be the on-set babysitter. “She’s like a second mom!” Howard remarks. “The other day [my baby] said, ‘I miss Nikki.’ I was like, ‘Honey, I miss Nikki too!’ ”

“We’re such a close family,” Kellan Lutz added.

Reed also dished about what it’s really like to chill with her co-stars.

“OK, P-Fatch [Peter Facinelli] is definitely the jokester and prankster. And he’s very much a father figure — safe and comforting,” Reed said. “Jackson [Rathbone] is the most artsy, creative and, I think, the most talented. Liz Reaser is the most well-read. Kellan and Ashley are very similar: They’re both very driven people, and they both like to go out a lot. A lot of the partying happens around them. [Pattinson] has the best heart.”

It is not very often that Nikki Reed gets a chance to shine but Saturday Night Magazine got an interview with the actress portraying Rosalie Hale. Here is part of the interview featured in the June 2010 Issue.

SNMag: Do you get along well with all the other cast? Is there anyone you especially get along with?
NR:
It depends on where we’re at in our lives. We all get along really well but on this last movie, it just so happened that Elizabeth [Reaser] and I were living literally two steps away from each other. When you came out of my door and took a hard left you were in her room. When I quit smoking that changed who I hung out with in our cast because I got really active and into working out and Elizabeth and Kellan [Lutz] are really active. There was a time when I wanted to sit and smoke cigarettes and play guitar and sing.
SNMag: How did you prepare for the filming?
NR: We were in stunt, personal and fight training all the time. I felt like a professional athlete. I felt like all I did was train. They had to make sure our bodies were in good physical shape because we did a lot of our own stunts. There were weeks when I would work Monday through Saturday.
SNMag: What was the coolest stunt you got to do yourself?
NR: Running on steep 30 foot treadmills with harnesses on and jumping while running at 10.0 on the treadmill and ducking through branches and being on the back of tow trucks, being pulled at 100 miles an hour.
SNMag: We get to learn a bit more about Rosalie’s back story in Eclipse. What is like playing a character that is said to be so incredibly beautiful?
NR: It opened up all these questions about what beauty is. It really stressed me out for a long time. It made me more aware of my insecurity. I eventually had to just be ok with what it is — that is that everyone’s beautiful and we’re all beautiful in a different way. There’s no single person on the planet, not Monica Bellucci or Adriana Lima, that is universally the most beautiful person.
SNMag: What initially drew you to the character of Rosalie?
NR:
I liked how honest she was. I liked how she was unwilling to stray from what she believed in and she would fight and speak her mind regardless of how controversial it was.

For all the Twilighters out there who have heard the rumors and speculation swirling around that Kellan Lutz and Ashley Greene might not be back to play Emmett and Alice in Breaking Dawn, take a deep breath because all is well.

Gossip Cop has confirmed that Greene and Lutz have signed contracts to return as Alice and Emmett Cullen for the final installment of the “Twilight” series. While stars Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, and Taylor Lautner receive far bigger paydays for their work, Greene and Lutz negotiated for raises in a franchise that has generated a fortune. Neither was permitted to renegotiate terms for the second (New Moon) or third (Eclipse) films after the original became a blockbuster.

I think we all knew that Kellan and Ashley were irreplaceable but at least Summit seems to understand that as well. Kellan is our Emmett and always will be in the films.
